ECHOS D'ORIENT. - A monthly review begun by the Augustinians of the Assumption in 1807 as a continuation of the Echos de Notre-Dame de France. The authoritative review set out to illuminate the questions of the Christian East; it has increasingly taken on a strictly scientific character and has distinguished itself excellently in the field of Byzantine studies. E. d'O. was published in Paris and latterly in Lyon, while the editorial office was in Bucharest. Suspended with its 39th volume in 1942, it found a continuation in the Revue des études byzantines, which since 1943 has appeared twice a year and whose editorial office, formerly in Bucharest, is now in Paris.
