HENRY OF GORCUM (GORICHEM). - Theologian, b. ca. 1386, d. in 1431 at Cologne. He taught first in Paris and then (1419-31) in Cologne. He is one of the principal representatives of Thomism in the struggle between "Albertists" and Thomists at the University of Cologne, which began to rage at the time of his teaching and which ended, in large part through H.'s efforts, with the predominance of Thomism.

Principal works: Conclusiones in libros magistri Sententiarum (printed twice before 1489); Compendium Summae theologiae i Thomae (printed ca. 1473); Tractatus consultatorii, that is, a collection of treatises De divinis nominibus, De praedestinatione, De iusto bello, etc. (printed 1503).
