ENRICO di GORKUM (GÖRRICHEM). — Theologian, born ca. 1386, died in 1431 in Cologne. He taught first in Paris and then (1419–31) in Cologne. He was one of the principal representatives of Thomism in the struggle between the “Albertists” and the Thomists at the University of Cologne, which began to intensify during the period of his teaching and ended, largely through E.’s efforts, with the predominance of Thomism.
Principal works: Conclusiones in libros magistri Sententiorum (printed twice before 1489); Compendium Summae theologiae i Thomae (printed ca. 1473); Tractatus consultatorii, that is, a collection of treatises De divinis nominibus, De praedestinatione, De iusto bello, etc. (printed in 1503).
