ENDRES, JOSEPH ANTON

ENDRES, Joseph Anton. – Philosopher, b. at Untermeiligen (Germany) on 12 May 1863, d. at Bidingen on 19 January 1924. A disciple of G. von Hertling, he was ordained priest in 1887 and from 1869 was professor of philosophy at the Lyceum of Regensburg.

E. is known especially for his researches on the history of Scholastic philosophy. Principal works: Geschichte der mittelalterlichen Philosophie (Kempten 1908), Thomas von Aquin (1910), Forschungen zur Geschichte der frühmittelalterlichen Philosophie (Münster 1915).
