ENDRES, JOSEPH ANTON

ENDRES, JOSEPH ANTON. – Philosopher, born in Untermeltingen (Germany) on 12 May 1863, died in Bidingen on 19 January 1924. A disciple of G. von Hertling and a priest from 1887, he was professor of philosophy at the Ratiabona Lyceum from 1890.

E. is known especially for his research on the history of Scholastic philosophy. Principal works: Geschichte der mittelalterlichen Philosophie (Kempten 1908), Thomas von Aquin (1910), Forschungen zur Geschichte der frühmittelalterlichen Philosophie (Münster 1915).
