Also known as: Hesychios of Miletus

HESYCHIUS OF MILETUS. - Also called "Illustris", of c. 550, perhaps a Christian, author of a Universal History, with additions down to the early years of Justinian, preserved only in a few fragments.

He was also the author of a literary encyclopedia, called Onomatologus. Later extracts from the Onomatologus served subsequently for the compilation of the Suda and of the Library of Photius.
