DAUGHTERS OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY OF SORROWS. – A religious institute of the Third Order of St. Francis founded in Zakraczin (Poland) in 1881 by Fr. Onorato da Biala, a Capuchin, and Lucia Szewczyk, for the education of poor youth and the care of the sick in hospitals. Approved by the Holy See in 1909, it had 43 houses with over 300 religious.
