DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS. – In 1823 at La Salle-de-Vihiers, Abbé Catroux and Rose Giet founded this new religious congregation for the instruction and education of youth in rural areas. It soon bore good fruit, spreading throughout France and the United States. Approved by the Holy See, it now has 205 houses with more than 1,500 religious.
