FIGLIE DI NOSTRA SIGNORA DEI DOLORI (TARBES)

DAUGHTERS OF OUR LADY OF SORROWS (Tarbes). – Institute founded at Tarbes in France on 28 March 1866 through the efforts of the pious Miss de St-Flour with the assistance of Canon Ribes and with the approval of the diocesan ecclesiastical authority, under the Rule of St Augustine. Three years later the Ordinary approved its first constitutions. The decree of praise and the temporary approval of the constitutions were granted on 9 December 1930.

The special purpose of the Institute is to honour the Sorrows of the Virgin, spreading devotion to them and performing in her honour works of spiritual and corporal mercy towards poor old persons who are abandoned, sick and incurable, taking them in free of charge into their own homes and providing for their needs through alms collections.
