FIGLIE DI NOSTRA SIGNORA DEI DOLORI (Tarbes). — Institute founded at Tarbes in France on 28 March 1866 through the efforts of the devout Miss di St-Frae, with the assistance of can. Ribes and the approval of the diocesan ecclesiastical authority, under the Rule of s. Agostino. Three years later the Ordinary approved its first constitutions. The decree of praise and the temporary approval of the constitutions were issued on 9 December 1930.
The Institute’s special purpose is to honor the Sorrows of the Virgin, spreading devotion to them and, in her honor, practicing works of spiritual and corporal mercy toward poor abandoned elderly persons, the sick, and the incurable, taking them in free of charge in its own houses and providing for their needs through alms-collecting.
