DAUGHTERS OF OUR LADY OF MERCY. — Institute founded in Savona in 1837 by St. Maria Giuseppa Rossello under the guidance of Bishop Agostino De Mari, for the instruction and education of the children of the people, and for the practice of works of charity and assistance, in elementary and secondary schools, boarding schools, orphanages, penal institutions, and homes for the elderly. They currently have 262 houses with 3,830 religious women.
