Daughters of Saint Anne

FIGLIE DI SANT'ANNA. – Institute founded in Piacenza in 1866 by Rosa Gattorno (born in Genova in 1831, died in Roma in 1900), a woman of great virtue who, after the death of her husband, devoted herself entirely to works of charity. The purpose of the foundation is the education of orphans, assistance to the sick and the elderly, and schools for poor children. The Institute was approved by the Holy See in 1892, and today numbers approximately 8,000 religious in more than 400 houses, many of them in mission territories.
