FILEA AND FILOROMO, saints, martyrs. - Filea, while still young, held important civil offices; wealthy, learned, and influential, he later became bishop of Tmuis. Arrested with other bishops during the persecution of Diocletian, he wrote from prison, together with them, to Melezio of Licopoli, who was illicitly performing ordinations in other dioceses. He also wrote to his faithful concerning the heroism of the martyrs. His courage in facing martyrdom converted the high-ranking officer Filoromo, who was beheaded together with him. Feast day: 4 February.
