FILEA AND FILOROMO, Saints, Martyrs. - In his youth Filea held important civil offices; rich, learned, and influential, he later became bishop of Tmuis. Arrested with other bishops in the persecution of Diocletian, from prison he wrote, together with them, to Meletius of Lycopolis, who was unlawfully performing ordinations in other dioceses. He also wrote to his faithful concerning the heroism of the martyrs. His courage in facing martyrdom converted the high official Philoromus, who was beheaded together with him. Feast on 4 February.
