FOLIANTINES. — De la Barrière also founded a female branch of the same Rule of the Foliantines (v.): the first monastery was established at Montesquieu-Volvestre in 1588, transferred to Toulouse in 1599, where Antoinette of Orléans entered. Anne of Austria, wife of Louis XIII, founded another in Paris in 1622. In Rome, Sixtus IV granted the nuns the monastery of S. Vito ad Lunam, which was later transferred, under Sixtus V, to S. Susanna.
