GAGLIARDI, CARLO

GAGLIARDI, CARLO. – Canonist, born at Bella (Lucania) in 1710, died at Muro on 1 July 1779.

Appointed professor of canon law at Naples by Carlo III, he held this chair until 1787, when he was elected bishop of Muro.

He wrote: De beneficiis ecclesiasticis (Naples 1747); De iure dothum (there 1749); Institutionum iuris canonici communis et neapolitani libri quattuor (there 1756). A new edition of all these works was prepared in the last century by G. Romani.
