GALVANUS de BETTINO, of BOLOGNA. – Canonist of the fourteenth century.
Few details are known about his life: from 1365
to 1368 he taught at Padua; he was then summoned by Bishop Guglielmo to Pecs in Hungary to enhance the prestige of the school of canon law established there; in 1374 he was already in Bologna as professor of the Decretals, having been called there by Gregory XI. He certainly died after 1385.
He wrote: De differentiis legum et canonum; Casus, qui indicis arbitrio velinguuntur; Contrarietates glossarum iuris canonici; Repetitiones; De declinis. These works are largely unpublished.
