GEDEON, MANUELE

GEDEON, MANUELE. - Greek writer from Constantinople, b. July 8, 1851, d. Oct. 18, 1943. In 1921 he moved to Athens, where he carried out a long and fruitful activity in the field of Byzantine history. For this he was awarded the title of "Great Chartophylax and Chronicler of the Great Church."

Among his works, the following are often cited: Kovo-vedi Bærtzée, *Vom vaterparzögen Kownentvovudzögen* (Constantinople 1888-89), Παρεχωρικον πίνακες (ibid. 1890), Χρονικά της πατριαρχικής ιστορίας (Athens 1925).
