GEDEON, MANUELE. - Greek Constantinopolitan writer, b. 8 July 1851, d. 18 Oct. 1943. He moved in 1921 to Athens, where he carried on a long and fruitful activity in the field of Byzantine history. For this he was honored with the title of "grand chartophylax and chronicler of the Great Church."
Among his works those often cited are: Κανονικαὶ διατάξεις... τῶν πατριαρχῶν Κωνσταντινουπόλεως (Constantinople 1888-89), Πατριαρχικαὶ πίνακες (ibid. 1890), Χρονικὰ τῆς πατριαρχικῆς ἱστορίας (Athens 1925).
