GEDEON, MANUELE. — Constantinopolitan Greek writer, born on 8 July 1851, died on 18 October 1943. In 1921 he moved to Athens, where he carried out a long and fruitful activity in the field of Byzantine history. He was therefore awarded the title of “great cartophylax and chronicler of the Great Church.”
Among his works, the following are very frequently cited: Κανονικαὶ διατάξεις... τῶν πατριαρχῶν Κωνσταντινουπόλεως (Constantinople 1888–89), Πατριαρχικαὶ πίνακες (there 1890), Χρονικὰ τῆς πατριαρχικῆς ἱστορίας (Athens 1925).
