GERMANO of Saint Stanislaus (secular name: Vincenzo Ruoppolo), was born in Vico Equense on 17 January 1850 and died in Rome on 11 December 1909. He professed the Rule of the Passionists on 7 October 1866 and was ordained a priest on 3 November 1872. A man of profound and versatile intellect, he devoted himself with particular love not only to sacred and philosophical studies but also to archaeology. He is credited with the fortunate discovery of the original house of the SS. John and Paul in Rome.

Giovanni e Paolo, martiri romani della persecuzione di Giuliano, rivendicata alla storia contro gli attacchi di alcuni odierni critici* (IV, 1907); *Praelectiones philosophiae scholasticae* (I and II, IV, 1903; III, IV, 1906); *Biografia della serva di Dio Gemma Galgani, vergine lucchese* (IV, 1907). Highly esteemed for his learning and prudence, he held various offices within his Congregation. He was the enlightened extraordinary spiritual director of the ecstatic virgin, St. Gemma Galgani.
