Historical Journal of Italian Literature

GIORNALE STORICO DELLA LETTERATURA ITALIANA. — Founded in Turin in 1883 by A. Graf, R. Renier, and F. Novati, who directed it for several years; published by the firm E. Loescher, which was succeeded in 1918 by the firm E. Chiantore.

Established with the aim of following the whole of Italian literary and historical-philological production, while always taking foreign production into account, it became the foremost organ of the so-called historical method. From the outset it became, and still is, among the best—if not the foremost—of Italian literary reviews: an immense archive of monographs, documents, notes, and information, and an outstanding monument of modern learned criticism.

It is currently directed by C. Calcaterra, F. Neri, V. Pernicone, and G. Vidossi; with its various indexes and supplements it has reached vol. CXXVII. Issues are published quarterly.
