GORI, ANTONIO FRANCESCO. — Priest, born in Florence on 9 November 1691, died there on 21 January 1757; he published several erudite works on archaeology, including Doni’s epigraphic collection in 1731; he collected many Christian inscriptions of Rome in the manuscripts now Marucelliani A, 6, 63, 77, 187, 195, 260 (Florence). He intended to prepare a “corpus” of Christian inscriptions arranged by classes, according to the ecclesiastical hierarchy and discipline.
