ANTONIO FRANCESCO GORI. — Priest, born in Florence on 9 November 1691, died there on 21 January 1757; he published several learned works on archaeology, including in 1731 the epigraphic collection of Doni; he gathered many Christian inscriptions of Rome in manuscripts now Marcelliani A, 6, 63, 77, 187, 195, 260 (Florence). He intended to prepare a “corpus” of Christian inscriptions arranged by classes, according to ecclesiastical hierarchy and discipline.
