G U A R I N O, St. — Of the noble family of the Guarini, cardinal and bishop of Palestrina, b. ca. 1808 in Bologna, d. 6 Feb. 1158 in Palestrina.
He entered around 1804 the Augustinian Order in the monastery of Mortara and after 40 years of austere cloistered life he was named cardinal and bishop of Palestrina and consecrated by Pope Lucius II.
On account of his extraordinary life, immediately after his death he was declared a saint by Pope Alexander III. Feast, 6 Feb.
