GUAXUPÉ, DIOCESI di. – City and diocese in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, erected by Pope Benedict XV on 3 February 1916 through the division of the diocese of Porto Alegre. It was initially a suffragan of the archdiocese of Marianna, and from 1924 of Belo Horizonte.
The diocese has an area of 21,000 sq km and a population of 575,000 inhabitants, of whom 572,000 are Catholics. It has 47 parishes, with 49 diocesan priests and 34 religious priests, one seminary, 12 male and 23 female religious communities (1949).
