HURTADO, PEDRO DE MENDOZA

PEDRO DE MENDOZA HURTADO. - Jesuit theologian and philosopher, born in 1578 at Valmaseda, died on 10 Nov. 1615 at Madrid. He taught philosophy and theology at Salamanca.

He wrote *Disputationes a summulis ad metaphysicam* (Valladolid 1615; Lyons 1617 under the title *Disputationes de universa philosophia*; other later editions); *Disputationes de Deo homine vivo de incarnatione filii Dei* (Antwerp 1634). Other works remain unpublished. In theology and philosophy he followed the Suarezian approach.
