IACOBUS de ZOCCHIS de FERRARIA. — A by no means obscure canonist of the 15th century, born in Ferrara (hence the appended designation) at an uncertain date. He perhaps also taught in Ferrara before moving to Padua (1429), where in 1433 his remuneration was 250 gold piastre. He died in 1457, bequeathing his library to a small convent, built by him, where he was also buried.
He wrote two Commentarii in I et IV II. Decretalium and various treatises: De arbore consanguinitatis et affinitatis; De poenitentia et remissionibus (a commentary on chap. 12, X, V, 38); De ieiunio; De differentiis casuum fori contentiosi et conscientiae (a commentary on 8, X, III, 49); De pactis.
