IAM SOL RECEDIT IGNÉUS

«IAM SOL RECEDIT IGNÉUS». – Hymn at Vespers on Saturday, of unknown authorship, belonging to the “Irish-Anglo-Saxon” group.

As the light of day fades and darkness falls, the Christian turns to God, one and alone, the everlasting light that enlightens every man who comes into the world. It is a simple two-stanza hymn that sings of themes already familiar, yet presented in a graceful and flowing form.
