IAM TOTO SUBITO VESPER EAT POLO. - Hymn of Vespers for the feast of the Sorrowful Virgin, in Asclepiadean strophes, composed in the 17th century when Innocent XI instituted the feast, with an inspiring concept different from that of Good Friday.

The atrocious and sublime martyrdom of the Mother of Jesus at the foot of the Cross is presented in a vision of apocalyptic grandeur, with verses beautiful for the loftiness of their concepts and the elegance of their form.
