«IAM TOTO SUBITO VESPER EAT POLO». — Hymn for Vespers on the feast of the Sorrowful Virgin, in Asclepiadean stanzas, composed in the 17th century when Innocent XI instituted the feast, with an inspirational concept different from that of Good Friday.
The lofty and sublime martyrdom of the Mother of Jesus at the foot of the Cross is presented in a vision of apocalyptic grandeur, with verses notable for the elevation of their concepts and the elegance of their form.
