«IESU CORONA CELSIOR». – This is the hymn for Lauds in the Common of Confessors who are not popes, composed by an unknown author of the 10th century.
It extols, in the saint whose feast is being celebrated, the common virtues of contempt for the world, flight from temptation, mastery over the flesh, and the striving to attain eternal life. The beginning and end are an invocation to Christ that, through the intercession of the saint, he may forgive sins and grant eternal life.
