«IESU CORONA CELSIOR». — This is the hymn of Lauds in the Common of Confessors who were not pontiffs, composed by an unknown author of the 10th century.
In the Saint whose feast is being celebrated, it exalts the common virtues of contempt for the world, flight from temptations, mastery over the flesh, and the effort to attain eternal life. The beginning and the end are an invocation to Christ to forgive sins and grant eternal life through the intercession of the Saint.
