IESU REDEMPTOR OMNIUM-QUEM LUCIS. - It is the hymn of Vespers and Matins for the feast of Christmas, by an unknown author, from around the beginning of the 10th century.
The birth of Jesus ab aeterno, a theme on which it insists by preference, makes it clear that the hymn was composed in the era of the Arian struggle. Begotten of the Father from all eternity, come into the world from a virgin, he is born again in every

man spiritually. These three births the whole universe greets with a new canticle.
