«IESU REDEMPTOR OMNIUM». — Hymn of Lauds in the Office of the Common of confessors who are pontiffs, in which the merits of the Saint whose feast is being celebrated are extolled in general terms. Its author is unknown, and it dates approximately from the 10th century.
Its fundamental theme is contempt for earthly goods in order to attain eternal life. A certain paucity of colour and movement is noteworthy.
