ISTANZIO. - Among the disciples of Priscillian, the bishop I. deserves special attention because the 11 treatises discovered by G. Schepss and published in CSEL, 18 (1889) have been attributed to him rather than to the head of the sect. Written on an apologetic plan, they do not contain great things that reveal the heresy of which his contemporaries accused Priscillian.For this reason, Morin attributed them to I., but the solution of the learned Benedictine patrologist did not satisfy everyone; and the authorship of the treatises mentioned is still a subject of discussion.
