KELLER, PAUL. - German narrator, b. in Arnsdorf, near Schneiderwitz in Silesia, on 6 July 1873, d. in Breslau on 20 Aug. 1932. Initially a teacher, from 1908 a writer, he founded and for years edited the monthly journal *Die Bergstadt*.
His works, widely read, reveal his Catholic spirit, his steadfast morality, his understanding humanity, and his intimate sentiment. In addition to numerous novels, including *Waldwinter* (1902); *Die Heimat* (1904); *Der Sohn der Hagar* (1907); *Die alte Krone* (1909); *Ferien vom Ich* (1915); *Hubertus* (1918); *In fremden Spiegeln* (1920); *Dorfjunge* (1925); *Maria Heinrich* (1926), he left several collections of short stories: *Gold und Myrrhe* (1898); *Stille Strassen* (1912).
