LUDOVICA of Savoy, Blessed. — Daughter of Amadeus IX, Duke of Savoy, and Yolande of France, born in Geneva on 28 December 1462. In 1479 she married Hugh of Châlon, Lord of Château-Guyon, and was widowed in 1490. She then retired to the Convent of the Clarisses in Orbe (Vaud), where she died on 24 July 1503. Her piety and penitential life gave rise to a reputation for holiness around L. The cult observed in the monastery, and later publicly, was approved by Gregory XVI on 12 August 1839.
