A skilled violinist, he first played at the Accademia dello Spirito Santo in Ferrara, then at San Petronio in Bologna. In 1718 he entered the service of the Duke of Bavaria in Munich, and in 1734 became *maestro di cappella* at the cathedral in Pistoia.
He composed the following oratorios: *S. Filippo Neri*, *L’assedio di Samaria*, *Il doppio sacrificio del Calvario*, *Il discacciamento dal Paradiso terrestre*, and *Il sacrificio di Jette*, all of which were successfully performed in Pistoia. In Bologna he produced *Tommaso Moro*, which further confirmed his reputation. He also composed *Sinfonia da chiesa* for two violins, organ bass, and viola, along with a *Pastorale* for Christmas (Bologna, 1709); and twelve *Concerti* for two violins and obbligato basso continuo, including a *Pastorale* for Christmas (ibid., 1718).
