MARAJÓ. - Prelature nullius in the State of Pará in Brazil. Residence of the prelature is in Souze.
It extends over 42,000 sq. km. with a population of 75,000 inhabitants, of whom 74,000 are Catholic. It has 8 parishes and 26 churches. The prelature was established by Pope Pius XI with the apostolic constitution *Romanus Pontifex* of 14 April 1928 and entrusted to the Order of Recollects of St Augustine. It is a suffragan of Belém do Pará.
