MARAJÒ. – Nullius prelature in the State of Pará, Brazil. The prelature’s residence is in Souse.
It extends over 42,000 sq km and has a population of 75,000, of whom 74,000 are Catholics. It has 8 parishes,
26 churches. The prelature was created by Pope Pius XI through the apostolic constitution Romanus Pontifex of 14 April 1928, and entrusted to the Order of the Recollects of St Augustine. It is a suffragan of Belém do Pará.
