MARIANUM. - A journal of Mariology published under the auspices of the theological Faculty of the same name of the Servants of Mary, founded in 1939 by Fr M. Roschini.
The M. deals scientifically with every question that may refer to the Madonna, whether from the theological standpoint (understood in the broadest sense), or from the literary, artistic, historical, and folkloric points of view.
The quarterly periodical, issued in fascicles of approximately 150 pages, has the following sections: articles, that is, monographs of greater importance; documents of the ecclesiastical magisterium, both pontifical and episcopal; miscellany, brief notes and discussions; reports on events of a cultural character; reviews and current bibliography. Among its contributors the M. includes all the principal Mariologists of the world; articles may be written in Latin, Italian, French, English, German, and Spanish: but a summary in Latin is always prefixed.
The M. is supplemented by an annual Italian-language publication of a popular character: Ragguaglio mariano, begun in 1946, which offers an overview of the many varied forms in which Christian piety honours the Madonna.
