MISSIONARIES OF OUR LADY OF LA SALETTE. - Founded by Mons. Filibert de Bruillard, bishop of Grenoble (d. 1860), on 1 May 1852, and recognized as of pontifical right in 1879, the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette soon spread to all parts of the world. At present the Institute has approximately one thousand professed religious, divided into 7 provinces, with 106 houses, many of them in the missions of Africa, Asia, and Oceania.

The principal purpose of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette is the apostolate of preaching and the struggle against the deviations of contemporary thought; they direct works of social charitable apostolate; they devote themselves to foreign missions and provide religious assistance in shrines and parish ministry.
