NAVA, CESARE. Engineer, parliamentarian, minister, born in Milan on 7 Oct. 1861, died there on 27 Nov. 1933. He served in the Italian Catholic Youth. In Milan he was a municipal councillor, president of the Congregation of Charity, of the Ambrosiano Bank, and of the “Pro Cultura” circle. Together with Broggi, he designed the seat of the Bank of Italy in Milan (1907–12). After the disastrous Calabrian–Sicilian earthquake of 1908, he devoted himself to the reconstruction of Calabria. He was a Catholic deputy for the Monza constituency in the 23rd and 24th legislatures. Upon joining the Italian People’s Party, he was elected deputy for the Milan constituency in the 25th legislature. In May 1918 he was appointed Undersecretary of State for Arms and Munitions and from September to November 1918 served as commissioner in the same ministry under President Orlando. From June 1919 to March 1920 he was Minister of Liberated Lands under Nitti. On 18 June 1921 he was appointed senator for categories 3rd and 5th.
From June 1924 to July 1925 he served as Minister of National Economy.
