**NAUSEA** (Grau), Friedrich. - Theologian and bishop, born in Waischenfeld (from which he took the name *Blancicampianus*) around 1496, died in Trent on 6 February 1552. In 1524 Cardinal Lorenzo Campeggio took him on as his secretary for the Diet of Nuremberg and the Regensburg Conference, where he was tasked with negotiating with Melanchthon and Erasmus.
Appointed in 1525 parish priest and canon of the collegiate church of St Bartholomew in Frankfurt am Main, he was forced to flee due to Lutheran violence and went to Mainz, where he became cathedral preacher. In 1534 King Ferdinand appointed him his counsellor and court preacher. In 1538 he was named coadjutor to his friend J. Fabri, Bishop of Vienna. He took part in the religious colloquies at Hagenau and Worms (1540-41), distinguishing himself for his learning and conciliatory spirit. In 1541 he succeeded Fabri as Bishop of Vienna and for eleven years worked tirelessly to improve the religious conditions of the diocese. He took an enthusiastic part in discussions on the need and organisation of the forthcoming council and worked untiringly for its successful outcome. In 1545 Ferdinand appointed him his spokesman at the council, but he was unable to attend; he did, however, take part in the second period (1551-52) and died in Trent during its proceedings.
