THE NEW SCHOLASTICISM. - Quarterly organ of the "American Catholic Philosophical Association," which, after the Congress of American Neo-Scholastic philosophers held in 1926 at the Catholic University of Washington, entrusted its direction to Edward A. Pace and James H. Ryan.
Publications began in 1927 under the auspices of the Catholic University Press of Baltimore. In addition to articles on theoretical and moral philosophy and on the history of philosophy, the journal includes in every issue bibliographical news and information on the state of philosophical studies throughout the world. In issue I of 1951 (the 25th year of the journal) the editorial emphasizes the contribution made by the journal to the dissemination of Thomistic thought and invites neo-scholastic philosophers to rethink the philosophy of St. Thomas in such a way that it may appear not as imposed "from above" but as constructed "from below," as that which responds to the aspirations and needs of the human spirit (*loc. cit.*, pp. 1-2). It is currently directed by Vincent Ed. Smith.
