PALESTINE EXPLORATION QUARTERLY. - Journal of the English association "Palestine Exploration Fund," established in 1865 in London to promote the geographical, archaeological and topographical study of Palestine, particularly of Jerusalem.

From 1869 it began publication of the Palestine Exploration Fund. Quarterly Statement, which proved most meritorious, especially for archaeology, disseminating the results of the numerous excavations carried out in the Holy Land. In 1929 the journal also took in the bulletin of the British School of Archaeology in Jerusalem (The Bulletin of the British School). The present title, specified by the subtitle "Emboiding the Quarterly Statement of the Palestine Exploration Fund and the Bulletin of the British School," appeared for the first time in 1939.
