PALIANO, CEMETERY of. — An ancient Christian cemetery in the district of S. Quirico, near P., that is, at the 36th mile of the Via Prenestina.
In 1914, an ancient underground Christian cemetery came to light again, consisting of a main gallery with loculi and formae, for the most part closed by tiles, and of a smaller gallery with three arcosolia. O. Marucchi read 19 inscriptions there, mostly scratched into the plaster; one in marble bearing the consular date of the year 341; two others scratched, one from 355 recalling a uvar diaconi, the other from the year 400. Outside the underground cemetery, an inscription from the year 420 was discovered.
