PANATTIERI, MADDALENA, BEATA

PANETTIERI, MADDALENA, Blessed. - Dominican tertiary, born at Trino Vercellese in 1443, died there on 13 October 1503.

From childhood she vowed virginity. In the convent of Trino, to whose reform she contributed (1490), she distinguished herself for charity toward her neighbor, especially sinners, for her love of the Passion of Jesus and of the Eucharist. She was granted the gifts of prophecy and miracles. She is the special patroness of her city, which still preserves a lively devotion to her, confirmed by Leo XII on 26 September 1827. Feast day: 13 October.
