PANATTIERI, MADDALENA, blessed. — Dominican tertiary, born in Trino Vercellese in 1443, died there on 13 October 1503.
From childhood she made a vow of virginity. In the convent of Trino, whose reform she helped advance (1490), she distinguished herself by charity toward her neighbour, especially sinners, and by her love for the Passion of Jesus and the Eucharist. She possessed the gift of prophecy and of miracles. She is the special patroness of her city, which still maintains a fervent devotion to her, confirmed by Leo XII on 26 September 1827.
