Pembroke, Diocese of. — In the province of Ontario, Canada. On 11 July 1882, Leo XIII established the Apostolic Vicariate of Pontiac, which was raised to the status of a diocese by the bull *Cum ex hac Beati Petri Cathedra* of 4 May 1898. The Diocese of P. is a suffragan of Ottawa.
The total population is 102,109, of whom 50,460 are Catholics. There are 8 diocesan priests, and the Oblates of Mary Immaculate are the only religious order exercising ministry there. There are 50 churches, 28 missions with chapels, 2 hospitals, 48 parishes, and 385 sisters belonging to 9 different congregations.
