PICCOLE SERVE DEL SACRO CUORE MISSIONARIE CATECHISTE DEI NERI DI AFRICA. — It originated in Mentone through the sisters Alice and Maria Teresa Munet, following a suggestion made in 1922 by Fr. J.-M. Chabert, superior general of the Society of African Missions of Lyon, with the aim of contributing to the evangelization of the Blacks of Africa.
On 24 April 1933 the Congregation came under the authority of Propaganda, which thereby regularized its canonical status. The Constitutions were approved by decree of 8 July 1935 for a period of five years, and definitively on 30 December 1949. At present the Society runs several «foyers» for Blacks in France and has missions in Africa. The professed sisters number 116, the novices 6, and the postulants 3.
