Little Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Founded in Turin in 1875 by Anna Michelotti of Annecy.The decree of praise and the first approval of the Constitutions date to 3 June 1932, with final approval granted on 16 January 1940. The specific purpose of the foundation is the free assistance of poor sick persons in their homes, always upon the request of the parish priest or his representative. In 1950, the sisters numbered 288, distributed across 16 houses.
Little Servants of the Sacred Heart Missionary Catechists of the Blacks of Africa
This congregation originated in Menton through the sisters Alice and Maria Teresa Munet, following the suggestion of Fr. J.-M. Chabert, Superior General of the Society of African Missions of Lyon, in 1922, with the aim of contributing to the evangelization of the blacks of Africa.On 24 April 1933, the Congregation came under the jurisdiction of the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith, which thereby regularized its canonical status. The Constitutions were approved by decree on 8 July 1935 for a five-year period and definitively on 30 December 1949. At present, the Society operates several centers for blacks in France and has missions in Africa. The professed sisters number 116, novices 6, and postulants 3.
