LITTLE WORKERS OF THE SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY. - Founded at Acri (diocese of Bisignano, Cosenza), by Fr. Francesco Maria Greco (d. 1931) and by the pious young lady Raffaella De Vincenti (d. 1936).

Italo-Albanian elements of the Greek rite also enter the Institute; they preserve their rite and constitute a separate section within the Institute. The Decree of praise and of temporary approval of the Constitutions is dated 22 Dec. 1931; the definitive approval, 7 July 1940. The purposes of the Institute are various: to educate and instruct youth, especially the poor and orphaned; to attend to domestic chores in seminaries and ecclesiastical colleges; to assist the sick in hospitals and at home, and the elderly in almshouses. In 1949 the sisters numbered 205, distributed among 40 houses.
