QUODCUMQUE INORBE NEXIBUS REVINXERIS

QUODCUMQUE IN ORBE NEXIBUS REVINXERIS. - Hymn of Vespers and Matins for the feast of the Chair of St. Peter.

It is a reworking of stanzas 5 and 7 of the hymn Felix per omnes festum mundi cardines, attributed to Paulinus of Aquileia but revised by the correctors of Urban VIII.

The two feasts of the Chair of St. Peter (Jan. 19 and Feb. 22) are intended to commemorate the supreme power conferred on St. Peter near Caesarea Philippi, and the solemn words then spoken by Jesus are here paraphrased in an incisive manner.
