ROSINI, Pietro Maria. – Olivetan abbot, born in Venice on 27 Oct. 1728, died at Adria on 10 May 1807. Archivist, chancellor, general secretary, and later abbot of S. Elena *in insula* in Venice. In 1805 he governed the abbey of S. Maria in Organo in Verona; after its suppression he moved to Adria, to the abbey of S. Maria, where he died.
A learned historian and palaeographer, a meticulous worker, he reorganized the archives of S. Maria Nuova in Rome, that of Monteoliveto in Naples, and that of the abbey of Monteoliveto Maggiore with fine order and elegance. He also founded a Museum of natural objects. His major work was the arrangement of the documents of S. Maria Nova, where, besides reorganizing the ancient parchments, he enclosed them in capsules and studied how to restore the damaged ones, gathering them into a volume which he entitled: *Iurium ecclesiae et monasterii S. Mariae Novae tabula*.
