SERAFINA of God, Venerable. – Carmelite mystic, born Prudenza Pisa in Naples on 24 Oct. 1621, died in Capri on 17 Mar. 1699. Of profound interior life and endowed with supernatural graces, including the stigmata, she founded Carmelite monasteries in Capri, Anacapri, Massalubrense, Nocera dei Pagani, Torre del Greco and Fisciano.
At her death she left countless writings, later collected into 22 volumes. In these the Venerable treats with remarkable acuteness every subject of ascetical and mystical theology and also of dogmatics. She MOLINISMO (v.), against whom she wrote a valued Trattato sopra l'erosione di fede.
