SERIO, Rosa Maria, venerable.
Carmelite, born at Ostuni (Lecce) on 6 August 1674, died in the Carmel of Fasano (Bari) on 9 May 1726, where she had entered at the age of sixteen in 1690, later holding the offices of novice mistress and prioress.
Of great spirit of prayer, she sought to reflect within herself
SERGIUS IV, pope.
Pietro Boccaporco, bishop of Albano, died on 12 May 1012. He was elected Pope on 31 July 1009, a time when the Crescentii still held sway in Rome. His epitaph in St John Lateran praises him as a helper of the people and defender of the rights of the Church, though it is not known to what specific events this refers.
