Summae Parens Clementiae

SUMMAE PARENS CLEMENTIAE. - Hymn of Matins on Saturday, by an unknown author. It is found in manuscripts of the 9th century (G. M. Dreves and C. Blume, Anal. hymn., LI, Leipzig 1912, p. 50).

The poet addresses himself to the divine goodness, asking it to receive the prayers of its children and to grant them purity of heart, the only thing that can ensure the joys of divine love, and to temper the ardor of the senses.
