TOOWOOMBA, Diocese of. — In the southern part of the State of Queensland (Australia).
It was erected with territory taken from the Archdiocese of Brisbane and declared a suffragan of the same on 28 May 1929. On 5 May 1950 there was a slight modification of its boundaries.
It has an area of 440,000 sq. km. and a population of 150,000 inhabitants, all of European origin with the exception of a few Aborigines. There are 32 parishes, 79 churches, 55 diocesan priests, 16 religious, 28 brothers, 202 sisters, and 40 schools. The Catholics number 33,000.
